The Hartford Artisans Weaving Center is a supportive and creative community that is preserving, promoting, and teaching the craft of hand-weaving. We teach classes for all ages, curate exhibits and sales, and run a unique artisan program. The artisan program teaches weaving to the blind and visually-impaired, and anyone 55 and older.
We enrich lives through hand-weaving.
ABOUT THE WEAVING CENTER
We offer weaving classes and workshops for people of all ages and abilities. Explore all learning opportunities listed under Classes/Workshops. All proceeds from our Class and Workshop programs support our unique Artisan Program. We are also an authorized Schacht Loom dealer and can help with an of your equipment needs.
Our Artisan program is dedicated to teaching hand-weaving to Hartford-area seniors, and people of all ages who are blind or visually impaired. Learning and mastering the ancient art of weaving enhances the Artisans' self-esteem and sense of accomplishment. The Weaving Center provides a safe-place to escape the isolation common to people in their circumstances; they become valuable members of a community of artisans where they are supported artistically and spiritually. Artisans produce beautiful handwoven scarves, throws, wall hangings, and more that are sold to the general public.
Due to COVID, our shop is currently closed to the public. Please visit our online store to shop a selection of our hand-woven items and support our artisan program. Check our Events calendar for updated opportunities in Hartford, and around New England.
