The Hartford Artisans Weaving Center is a supportive and creative community that is preserving, promoting, and teaching the craft of hand-weaving. We teach classes for all ages, curate exhibits and sales, and run a unique artisan program. The artisan program teaches weaving to the blind and visually-impaired, and anyone 55 and older.
We enrich lives through hand-weaving.
ABOUT THE WEAVING CENTER
Year-round, we host weaving classes for people of all ages and abilities. Our summer children's class bustles with new ideas and bright colors. Our adult classes are a fun, rewarding challenge for anyone new to weaving, and those looking to hone their expertise. We work to make sure our Class & Workshop program has something for everyone, so please email or call us if you have any questions or ideas.
Our Artisan program is dedicated to teaching hand-weaving to Hartford-area seniors, and people of all ages who are blind or visually impaired. Learning and mastering the ancient art of weaving enhances the Artisans' self-esteem and sense of accomplishment. The Weaving Center provides a safe-place to escape the isolation common to people in their circumstances; they become valuable members of a community of artisans where they are supported artistically and spiritually. Artisans produce beautiful handwoven scarves, throws, wall hangings, and more that are sold to the general public. You are welcome to visit our in-studio boutique during the week from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Check our Events calendar for additional opportunities in Hartford, and around New England.
