From beginner to advanced, our workshops are fantastic ways to learn something new
or increase your skills in a creative, friendly environment with talented instructors. We are excited to offer a schedule of workshops in Hartford and Manchester this year, including sewing, basket weaving, floor loom and rigid heddle weaving! Review our schedule below so you can "save the date!" Full descriptions will be added to our website soon so please check this page for more information. Proceeds from our classes support our artisan program which teaches weaving to people who are visually impaired or blind as well as people 55 years and older.
All registration is through this website, we do not accept mailed in registrations or registration in advance. All of our workshops are suitable for people 16+ years old. ​
June Workshops
Hartford: Sewing/Sewing 101 with hand-woven fabrics
Skill Level: Beginning or beginner sewist
Instructor: Lois Matson and Marsha Lodge
Location: Hartford Artisans Weaving Center, 42 Woodland Street Hartford
Fee: $75, payable by check or credit
Date: Thursday June 4, 2026
Time: 10:00am-12:30pm​
Hartford: Sewing/Sewing a hand-woven zippered clutch
Skill Level: Completion of Sewing 101 or at least advanced beginner with your own functional sewing machine. You should have experience sewing straight seams, threading a sewing machine, ironing and using a rotary cutter.

Hartford: Rigid Heddle/Log Cabin with Indirect Warping, a 2 Day Workshop
Skill Level: Completion of a Beginner Rigid Heddle class and your own 15" (minimum size) rigid heddle loom

Fee: $250, payable by check or credit, includes all fiber and workshop booklet

Manchester: Rigid Heddle/Make and Take a Woven Wall Hanging, a Half Day Workshop
Skill Level: Beginners are welcome! No weaving experience is necessary. The class is also suited for weavers looking to try out this playful approach on their looms.

Fee: $125, payable by check or credit, includes use of a pre-warped rigid heddle loom and all fiber

July Workshops

Skill Level: Beginner, perfect if you have never woven before.

Fee: $145, payable by check or credit. You will have the option to purchase or rent your loom at the end of class.

Hartford: Floor Loom/Weave a Rag Rug, a 2 Day Workshop
Skill Level: Beginner, perfect if you have never woven before.

Virtual: Floor Loom/Overshot Fundamentals & Beyond,
A 4 session "weave-along from home" Workshop
Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced. This class is designed for participants with prior experience weaving on a 4-shaft floor or table loom. Participants must be comfortable with reading and understanding a weaving draft and all aspects of preparing a warp and loom for weaving. A 4-shaft table or floor loom at home is required.
Instructor: Jill Staubitz
Location: Virtual via Zoom
Fee: $200, payable by check or credit, includes a materials fee for the PDF workshop booklet and drafts.

Skill Level: Beginner, perfect if you have never woven before.

August Workshops
Manchester: Floor Loom/Beyond Beginner, Profile Draft and Structure,
a 5 Day Round Robin Workshop
Skill Level: Completion of at least a beginner floor loom class. Also great for experienced weavers who would like to explore structures and create samples for their own reference

Hartford: Floor Loom/A Little Something Extra - Supplementary Warps and Wefts,
a 3 Day Round Robin Workshop
Skill Level: This Workshop is perfect for Advanced beginners to Advanced level floor loom weavers who would like to create a series of samples through the exploration of this structure.

Check payment is due within 2 weeks of your registration to secure your spot.

Students should be aware: Good manual dexterity is a necessity. Shoulder, elbow, and wrist movement are needed to wind a warp and dress a loom; floor loom weaving requires hip, knee, and foot movement. Weaving does involve repetitive motion; students may take breaks as needed.

Our classrooms and studios are currently only accessible by a flight of stairs.

Refund Policy and Class Cancellations:

The Weaving Center reserves the right to cancel a class due to low enrollment. Should we do so, registered students will receive a full refund.

For active classes cancelled due to weather or instructor illness, a make-up time will be scheduled.

Registered Students: Please notify the Weaving Center as soon as possible if there is a need to cancel your registration.
- If there is a waiting list and the spot can be filled, a 3% processing fee will be deducted from the total refund if you have paid by credit. If you have paid by check and the spot can be filled, you will receive a full refund.
- If a spot cannot be filled, no refund will be offered. This includes absences due to unexpected events or personal circumstances such as illness. Please contact us if supplies are included as part of the registration fee.
- We do not offer credit towards another class.

No-shows forfeit any refund and make-up classes (for instances other than weather related cancellations or instructor illness) are not offered.
