Virtual "Weave along from home" Workshop: Overshot Fundamentals and Beyond with Jill Staubitz
Overshot is often the first block weave structure to attract newer weavers who are familiar with plain weave, and twill basics. Overshot's exquisite design possibilities, using 4-shafts to create 4 pattern blocks, makes it an attractive and complex structure for weavers of all levels. Starting with the basics, we will examine Overshot's threading, tie up, and treadling rules. We'll discuss halftones, Star and Rose fashions, turning a twill draft into an Overshot draft, name drafting and deciphering an Overshot profile draft.
This workshop is a four-week "weave along." Prior to the first session, students will be sent threee Overshot drafts, and may choose one to work on in class. Each session is approximately two to three hours with a total of four sessions, and the participants are encouraged to weave independently between sessions. Each session will be recorded to that weavers can review the Zoom at home between sessions.
Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced Weaver. This workshop is designed for participants with prior weaving experience weaving on a a 4-shaft floor or table loom. Participants must be comfortable with reading and understanding a weaving draft and all aspects of preparing a warp and loom for weaving.
Supplies needed: A 4-shaft table or floor loom at home. A computer, tablet or IPad (link and access to Zoom sessions will be provided), Weaving software is welcome but not necessary, although the instructor will be using FiberWorks as part of the sessions.

About the Instructor:
Jill Staubitz fell in love with weaving 12 years ago when she retired as a graphic designer. The two disciplines mesh perfectly through her love of color, pattern and the design process. Since starting Modern Weaver, she has enjoyed teaching weave structures, empowering weavers to create their own cloth.
