Summer 2020 Kids Weaving Camps have all been cancelled due to Covid-19.

Beginner Option:

EXPLORE WEAVING: A Three Day Class For Children in Grade 3 and Up

June 29, 30, July 1, 2020
9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Students will learn how to operate a floor loom, and make a fun and funky wall hanging. This class is perfect for children (3rd grade and up) who are ready for a short, and fun introduction to weaving. If you have already taken Explore Weaving, you are welcome to repeat this class, learning new techniques and completing a different project.

Intermediate Option:

NEXT STEPS IN WEAVING

July 27-31, 2020
9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

This class is for:

  • Students who have completed our “Explore” class and are ready for 5 days

  • Older beginners (5th grade and up)

  • Students who loved “Explore” and want the same framework, with new weave structures and projects

  • Students who've taken the intermediate weaving class before and want to take it again (and again! And again!) and want to discover new weave structures and make different projects each year.

During this session, students will try out a variety of different weave structures on prepared looms. In addition, we’ll work as a group to wind a warp and dress a loom, do some off-loom activities, and end up with a completed scarf and a sewn project to take home.

Advanced Option:

ADVANCED PROJECT

July 21,22,23, and July 27-31, 2020

9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Use the first three days to plan, wind your warp, and thread your loom. The next week you'll come back to weave--and finish!--your project!

These classes are intended for older students who are eager to design and execute their own individual projects. Working with an instructor, they will complete all steps of the process from planning their project, to winding a warp, threading the loom, weaving and finishing.

During the 8-day session, the extra time will allow students to create a project on a larger scale or with a more intricate weave structure; or a poncho, boundweave wall hanging, messenger bag, or other project they may have in mind!

Please note: Tuition will be refunded only if the class is canceled by the Weaving Center, or if there is a waiting list and your spot can be filled.

Please Note: The April Vacation Youth Workshop has been cancelled. Those who have registered will be notified directly.
